The Property Sector Charter Council

Thursday, 15th November 2007

WHEREAS the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa Act 108 of 1996 in inter alia, section 9 on equality and unfair discrimination in the Bill of Rights states the imperative of redressing historical and social Inequalities AND WHEREAS despite significant progress since the establishment of a democraticgovernment in 1994, South African society, Including the property sector, remains characterised by racially based income and social services inequality. WHEREAS the BBBEE Act seeks to promote the achievement of the right to equality, increase broad based and effective participation of Black people in the economy andpromote equal opportunity and equal access to government services.

WHEREAS in order to address certain inequalities in the Property Sector, the industry associations, NDPW, NEDLAC and the EMS as stakeholders signed andadopted the Property Sector Transformation Charter. WHEREAS the parties hereto, have resolved to form a Property Sector CharterCouncil in order to implement the Property Sector Charter.
